Ausangate – 3D

280$

foodtravel date

This trekking is for people willing to discover the Ausangate region in a short time.

This trekking is also for everyone well acclimatized as it is easy and there’s no much elevation gain during the 3 days. On the second day, we’ll have three different options depending on how strong or how tired you are… Anyway, in the two “villages” where we’ll stay, we’ll be able to relax our body in natural hot springs!

Ausangate Trekking 3D

Day 1 : Cuzco – Tinqui (3950m) – Upis (4450m)

Early in the morning, we leave Cuzco on a local bus for a 3 hours drive. After the meeting with our muleteer and cook, we’ll start hiking until the Upis community. We’ll arrive there after 4 hours and a height elevation of 500m. The view on the Ausangate mountain is spectacular. Depending on your shape and on the time, either we relax in the hot springs or we keep going further up to a laguna, very close to the glaciers of Ausangate mountain.

Transport : 3h

Hiking time : 4h

Height difference : +500m

Jour 2 : Upis (4450m)- Pacchanta (4300m)

Today we will walk on a mainly flat portion for 3 hours to two beautiful lagunas. We’ll have lunch there. And then in the afternoon, we can choose between THREE OPTIONS :

OPTION 1 : We go directly down to the village of Pacchanta that we will reach in about 1 hour and a half.

OPTION 2 : We can head to Campa Pass situated at an altitude of 5000m and then we’ll get down to the village of Pacchanta. This route might take us 2 to 3 more hours than the option 1 but the views are worth it! Need to be in a good shape to reach this pass and walk that much in the day.

OPTION 3 : We can climb a non-technical 5000m mountain but the climb is pretty steep and off the beaten track. However the views that this mountain offers are even more beautiful than the option 2.

Day 3 : Pacchanta – Tinqui – Cuzco

After breakfast, we come back to Tinqui, the village where we arrived the first day. We’ll have about 3 hours to walk down. And finally we’ll take a local bus to get back to Cuzco…
