Ausangate + Rainbow Mountain – 6D

travel date

This trekking is for people willing to combine the classical Ausangate trekking with the amazing Rainbow Mountain. It’s probably our most beautiful itinerary, at least, it is our favourite! During this trekking, we’ll go over 5000 three times. We’ll see so many different lagoons on the route, dozens of 6000m peaks and the Quechua culture which is still very present in this area of Cuzco. You don’t want to miss this adventure on a trip to Peru!

Ausangate Trekking + Rainbow Mountain – 6D

Day 1 : Cuzco – Tinqui – Upis Alto (4400m)

Early in the morning, we leave Cuzco on a local bus for a 3 hours drive. After the meeting with our muleteer and cook, we’ll start hiking until the Upis community. We’ll arrive there after 4 hours and a height elevation of 500m. The view on the Ausangate mountain is spectacular. Depending on your shape and on the time, either we relax in the hot springs or we keep going further up to a laguna, very close to the glaciers of Ausangate mountain.
